Using satellite communications (GPS) and mobile networks (GSM), the system determines the car’s location to within a few metres.

How does the Cobra Connex search engine work?

  • Cobra Connex continuously transmits vehicle location data via satellite to a data server in Switzerland.
  • Highly qualified staff work 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year in Observatories across Europe.
  • A special SIM card installed in the device allows you to use the GSM network of any operator. The system is immune to GSM and GPS jamming and other means of communication interference.
  • If the system detects signal suppression or movement of the car without the engine running, the Monitoring Centre staff will contact the car owner quickly to confirm or deny the alarm.
  • If the car is confirmed stolen, its location is pinpointed to within 10 metres, and a rapid search for the car is launched, involving the security service and local police.
  • The car is being localised in Lithuania by G4S, one of the country’s largest security companies.

  • SOS voice calls in case of theft or emergency.
  • Vehicle location and status information, routing to your car.

  • Control of vehicles with the Cobra Connex road search system.
  • Remote engine locking.
  • Geofence. Set boundaries on a map, for example around your house. You will receive a notification if your car leaves or enters the zone you have set.

  • The device is available in 44 European countries. In the event of theft, an immediate intervention with the local security service and the police is carried out everywhere.
  • Connex VVD is a cost-effective, compact and simple device for locating stolen cars or equipment, regardless of the area where the theft has occurred. You can choose Connex VVD with a one- or two-year contract.

Cobra Connex has certificates and approvals to trade the system on European markets. The equipment has been validated by major European research institutes: ACA, Assuralia, Centro Zaragoza, FCA, NSAI, Thatcham, TNO and PIMOT.

MyConnectedCar app

New from Connex is the ability to monitor your car on your smartphone or tablet.

With the MyConnectedCar app, customers can access information about their car and control safety features remotely.

MyConnectedCar provides easy and convenient access to vehicle information. You can see the real-time location of the vehicle, the route to the car, the contract and user details.

Remote control and security features depend on the service chosen and the equipment installed:

 

Key features:

  • SOS calls: theft/help/SOS voice calls
  • Car locator: this feature allows you to find your car and get real-time information about its status. You can also get directions to your car from where you are now.*
    *The amount of data transmitted is limited.
  • Special modes:This function allows you to activate garage or transport mode if your car is being repaired or transported, e.g. in Celtic. This avoids false alerts and notifications.
  • Multi-vehicle management: if you have more than one car equipped with the Cobra Connex search engine, you can use this function to manage and retrieve information about the cars.

Optional features (depending on the equipment fitted and car model):

  • Engine lock: This function can be used if you want to prevent the car’s engine from starting.
  • System deactivation: can be used to start the engine without triggering the system if the driver card has been forgotten or broken.
